The Cosmos name first appeared in the late 1970s. Donna Tom and her six sisters formed a women’s soccer team in a small First Nations community. That team played together for over 25 years and laid the foundation for what would become Cosmos FC.

In 2007, Donna’s son, Brent, moved to Vancouver. After a year of playing recreational soccer, he decided to start a competitive men’s team. He applied to the Vancouver Metro Soccer League (VMSL), expecting to wait a year. But in August, the league called with an opening—he had just four weeks to get a team ready.

Brent pulled together a squad, hosted a few training sessions, and found a set of second-hand jerseys. A few weeks later, Cosmos FC officially joined the VMSL as a new Vancouver men’s soccer team.

Today, Cosmos FC fields two teams in VMSL Division 2 and Division 4. The squad includes players from Canada, the UK, Ireland, and beyond. Many have stayed with the club for years thanks to its strong culture and welcoming atmosphere.

Cosmos FC is more than just a team. It’s a community. Whether you’ve just moved to Vancouver or you’re looking for a new challenge, Cosmos is a great place to meet people and play competitive soccer. With regular training, league matches, post-game socials, and team trips, Cosmos FC offers the full experience.
